Most of the flooring I install is luxury vinyl plank going in over old carpet or tile. It looks like wood, it shrugs off kids, dogs and spilled coffee, and a whole house can be done in days instead of weeks. I also install laminate, waterproof plank for kitchens and bathrooms, and wood stairs to match.
The difference between a floor that stays tight for ten years and one that gaps in two is the prep. I pull the old floor, haul it away, fix anything soft underneath, and level the subfloor before a single plank goes down. Then I finish it properly: new baseboard, base shoe, and clean transitions at every doorway.

Vinyl plank is what most of my customers choose, and for good reason. It's waterproof or water-resistant depending on the product, it's warm underfoot, and the better lines look convincingly like oak or walnut. I install click-lock and glue-down plank, run it in the direction that makes the room look longest, and stagger the seams so you never see a pattern repeat.
Laminate is a solid choice for bedrooms, living rooms and hallways where you want the wood look at a lower price. I install it over a proper underlayment so it's quiet to walk on, leave the right expansion gap at the walls, and hide that gap under new baseboard so the finish is clean.
Stairs are where a cheap floor job shows. I cut and fit treads and risers to match the new floor, so the staircase looks like it was always part of the house instead of an afterthought. Laminate stair kits, vinyl stair treads, and solid wood stairs are all on the table.
Old carpet, tack strip, tile, and glued-down vinyl all come out and get hauled away. I check for soft spots and water damage, replace bad subfloor, and use leveling compound where the slab dips. If I find a problem I didn't quote, I show you before I touch it.
A new floor needs new trim. I install baseboard and base shoe, caulk and paint it, and set transition strips at every doorway and change in flooring. It's the part most people don't think about and the part that makes the job look finished.
After a leak, the floor under a bathroom, kitchen or laundry room is often ruined. I pull the damaged section, replace subfloor if it's soft, and lay new waterproof plank or tile. Several of my reviews are from exactly this situation.
